Concerning Catholicism...
This blog, and thus its author, truly and fervently profess the orthodox truth of the Catholic Faith. It is willing to defend this truth, either in debate or discussion, from all potential challengers, be they Unbelievers, Heretics, Misunderstanders, Schismatics or Others. Furthermore, this defense of Catholic orthodoxy will be done in a quite unique way, for it will be done with what can best be described as Catholic Koans.
Concerning Koans...
Insightful, reflective, puzzling and often paradoxical statements or stories, meant as an aid to meditation, a tool for the intellect and a means of spiritual growth...and so too will this Blog be, for though not topical or current, it hopes--in humble humility--to reflect at least part of the timeless knowledge, penetrating wisdom and genuine worth of Catholic orthodoxy, yet as previously stated, to do so in a most unorthodox fashion. Furthermore, being directed by the idea of a koan, these very posts will not be arguments in the traditional sense, but rather ideas to generate personal reflection and thus, hopefully, to lead one to reconsider the old arguments in a new light.
Concerning Error...
As with all things, this Blog and its posts are subject to error and unintentional deviations from Catholic orthodox. Any such errors are fully my own, are my sole responsibility and do not reflect traditional Catholic teachings.
Concerning Me...
Though I am remiss in writing concerning myself, I believe that it is beneficial for those reading to understand the personal background and context of the individual that they so kindly read. In light of this, let us be clear. I am what could be best described as a revert to Catholicism, for those raised by very devote Catholic parents who gave an excellent example and formation, I had become seriously dis-interested in the matter of Western religious traditions when I began my own formation as an adult. Indeed, having been an avid martial artist in those years, I became steeped in various eastern mystical traditions and let go of my shallow Christian roots. Over fifteen years passed and it was only in my late twenties and after two years of serious study, where I moved back to a form of general Christianity, then to a vague Protestantism and finally back to the the whole truth: Catholicism. At the same time, much truth was learned from the various eastern traditions that did not need to be discarded and furthermore, it was realized, could be used to help promote Catholicism in a new light, especially in a culture that seems to scorn its foundations but pines after all that is new and different. Hopefully then, this goal behind Catholic Koans will achieve its intended aim and bring at least a few to the truth.
